Toolkit: Developing a Child’s Attention - Art and Sensory Play
En Español Print This Page

Creativity fosters independent thinking and increased attention.

  • Finger painting and PLAY-DOH are great ways to develop self-expression. Some children may be sensitive to new textures at first, but tolerance increases with experience.
  • Use recycled materials. Then your child can be free to come up with his own creations. (may be helpful to give an example here)
  • Participate in cooking projects together.
  • Splash together in a large bin of water or use bath time as an opportunity for sustained engagement. Make the most of your daily routines.
