Welcome to my blog! It took me a long time to figure out how I wanted to tackle the blog, not being used to writing in this way. So, first I want to tell you a bit about myself. I am first, and foremost a Pediatric Nurse with 18 years of experience. My nursing experience began in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, working with premature infants and other babies who have been ill early on. From there I expanded to general pediatrics with an emphasis on child development and early intervention services. More recently, I have been working with The Blind Babies Foundation as a Vision Impairment Specialist and have developed some expertise around vision and vision impairment and lastly, but definitely not least, I am an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
With all these different “hats”, it was difficult to see in what direction I wanted to take this blog. So my thoughts will be guided from my day-to-day experiences, questions from parents and families and topics of interest that present themselves to me.
I want this blog to be an open venue, and 2-way street if you will. Your responses and interests will help guide me as to what topics to write about. So, let the blogging begin!
