The recipes below are child proof! They have been prepared and eaten by the classes I taught, and the children loved them. Most are simple enough so that your child can easily assist you in the preparation. Talk about the ingredients, talk about the math (a half cup or a quarter cup), and share with your child your favorite recipes as well. Have fun, and let your child get messy! Again, taking pictures for your child’s “Summer Book” will only add to the fun and the memories!
Easy Biscuits3 cups biscuit mix
1 carton yogurt—any flavor or plain
¼ teaspoon baking soda
- Heat oven to 400°
- Stir everything together
- Drop by Tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet
- Bake at 400°
Great for breakfast!
Granola
4 cups of rolled cereal flakes (oats, wheat, barley)
¼ cup wheat germ
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup coconut
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup nuts
Dried fruit (cranberries, blueberries, or your child’s favorite)
½ cup melted butter
½ cup honey
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon vanilla
- Heat the oven to 350°
- Combine the first group of ingredients in a large bowl
- Combine and heat the second group of ingredients
