Nail Biting

Nathan has decided to take up biting his nails and the tips of his fingers are now scabbed and callused. After some research I have found this to be a not so uncommon trait of children on the Spectrum – granted typical children also do this, but boy does this suck. We are constantly giving him a chewing device to try to redirect, but does not seem to be doing the trick. We tried rubbing garlic on his hands, buying the nail stuff that is supposed to taste nasty (which I am sure is toxic as all get out – maybe a blessing it did not work) and really afraid to put Tabasco in fear he would rub it into his eyes. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
