The following may be signs of developmental delay. If these signs of developmental delay are present during this age range, notify your pediatrician.

Gross Motor and Sensory
  • Does not jump
  • Does not ride a tricycle
  • Throws with difficulty
  • Does not engage in a variety of activities
  • Has trouble or protests a lot with dressing, feeding, and toileting
Fine Motor and Vision
  • Has trouble with throwing
  • Has trouble with grasping a pen or crayon
  • Has trouble with scribbling
Cognitive and Behavior
  • Continues to protest when separated from parents
  • Refuses to respond to people and has little interest in other children
  • Does not engage in a variety of activities
  • Is excessively aggressive or extremely fearful and timid
  • Does not engage in fantasy play
Speech and Language
  • Does not use an extended vocabulary
  • Does not use multiple-word sentences
  • Does not talk about daily experiences
Social and Emotional
  • Continues to protest when separated from parents
  • Refuses to respond to people and has little interest in other children
  • Does not engage in a variety of activities
  • Does not express a range of emotions or appears unengaged much of the time
Daily Routines
  • Has trouble with sleeping
  • Has trouble using utensils
  • Has trouble with independent toileting
